Performance by Mathis Picard at the Blue Strawberry

Virtuoso jazz pianist, composer, producer and bandleader, Mathis Picard performs in a solo recital at the Blue Strawberry on Wednesday, June 3 at 7:30 pm. Of French-Malagasy origins, he will share his musical journey - IN FRENCH - in a 30-minute talk from 5:30 - 6 pm for ticket holders.

Picard’s musical background is based in both jazz and classical styles. Beginning to play piano at age 3, he studied music at the Pittsburgh Suzuki Academy (Pittsburgh, PA), the Conservatoire in Fontainebleau, France, the Centre de Musique de Didier Lockwood in France, and Chathams School of Music in Manchester, England. At the age of 10, he was the youngest finalist in the Montreux Jazz Piano Competition. He is a Juilliard School Alumnus under the mentorship of Kenny Barron.
